I love the laughter.

The quiet moments broken open

with the occasional snicker,

that side comment,

that snide remark that

breaks the tension

of being apart.

It's like you were always next to me.

It's like we really are

family.

I love the sharing.

The giving, without taking,

the warmth that emanates from plates

of auntie's home cooked happiness.

The warmth

that dwells within a grandmother's arms.

How they wrap around you

and every one of your senses

are filled with this effervescence.

The look of the smile on her face

after how long you've been away.

The sound of her voice,

its melodies abundant and merry.

The taste of the very first bite

of that pumpkin pie.

The smell of cocoa butter and sunshine

that wafts through the air

and through your soul.

The feeling...

The touch, so soft,

yet firm.

She grips with care

letting you know

she loves you.

She grips tightly

to let you know that you are always

her baby

I love it

A time of peace

A time where everything

just feels like

home.
